When faced with a vacancy in the Chief Executive Officer's position, most Boards of Directors have the urge to immediately start the search process. Before the Board starts the search process, consider this:
  • A thorough search process will take from 100 to 150 hours of volunteer's valuable time.
  • Does your Board have the time to devote to the process?

  • Reduce your Board's time commitment to approximately 20 to 30 hours.
  • Conduct a local, regional and national search, using our vast network of contacts.
  • Provide the Board or its Search Committee with four to five candidates that meet the qualifications, expertise, experience and expectations for a new Executive Director, as defined by the Board.
  • Provide guidance through the final phases of the process, including, selecting the final candidate, defining the compensation package,and negotiations with the candidate of choice.
  • Guarantee that if the new Executive Director leaves (for reasons related to the job and his/her performance) within 6 months, the search will be renewed at no additional cost to the organization.
  • Guarantee the if the new Executive Director leaves (for reasons related to the job and his/her performance) within 12 months, the search will be renewed at half the original cost to the organization.
  • Conduct a training seminar for board and staff on "Shared Leadership: Board & Executive Director Relationships"
  • Provide free telephone consultation during the first six months, working through any problems that may occur between the new Executive Director and the Board.
  • Conduct a thorough Executive Search with a fee based on the cost of compensation package being offered to a new Executive Director.
